English Translation
Narrated Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) prayed the traveler's prayer at Mina, and so did Abu Bakr and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), and Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) also prayed only the traveler's prayer for eight years (or he said six years). Hafs (that is, Ibn Asim) said: Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to pray two rak'ahs at Mina and then come to his bedding. So I said: O my uncle! If only you would pray two more rak'ahs after the obligatory prayer (that is, the sunnah)? He said: If I were to do so, I would complete my obligatory prayer. [Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim/Hadith: 437]
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے منیٰ میں مسافر کی نماز پڑھی اور سیدنا ابوبکر و عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے بھی اور سیدنا عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ نے بھی آٹھ برس تک (یا کہا کہ چھ برس تک) مسافر کی نماز ہی پڑھی۔ حفص (یعنی ابن عاصم) نے کہا کہ سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما منیٰ میں دو رکعتیں پڑھتے اور اپنے بچھونے پر آ جاتے تو میں نے کہا کہ اے میرے چچا! کاش آپ فرض کے بعد دو رکعت اور پڑھتے؟ (یعنی سنت) تو انہوں نے کہا کہ اگر مجھے ایسا کرنا ہوتا تو میں اپنے فرض پورے کرتا۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 437]
