English Translation
Narrated Abu Hazim: Some people came to Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) and began to argue about the pulpit, as to what wood it was made of. He said, "I know what wood it was made of and who made it, and I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) when he first sat on it." (Abu Hazim says) I said, "O Abu Abbas, tell us all about this." He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) sent word to a woman (Abu Hazim said that Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) was that day mentioning the woman's name), "Order your slave, who is a carpenter, to make time to build for me some pieces of wood, that is, a pulpit, upon which I may speak to the people (i.e., preach and admonish)." So the slave made a pulpit of three steps, and by the command of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) it was placed at this spot in the mosque. Its wood was of the tamarisk of al-Ghabah (al-Ghabah is a place in the highland of Madinah). And I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) stand on it and say the takbir. The people also said the takbir behind him while he was on the pulpit. Then he raised his head from bowing and stepped back on his feet until he prostrated at the foot of the pulpit. Then he returned to the pulpit until he finished the prayer. After that he turned to the people and said, "O people, I did this so that you might follow me and learn to pray as I pray." Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابوحازم سے روایت ہے کہکچھ لوگ سیدنا سہل بن سعد رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس آئے اور منبر کے بارے میں جھگڑنے لگے کہ وہ کس لکڑی کا تھا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ میں جانتا ہوں وہ جس لکڑی کا تھا اور جس نے اسے بنایا۔ اور میں نے دیکھا جب پہلی بار رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلماس پر بیٹھے۔ (ابوحازم کہتے ہیں) میں نے کہا کہ اے ابوعباس! ہم سے یہ سب حال بیان کیجئے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے ایک عورت کو کہلا بھیجا (ابوحازم نے کہا کہ سیدنا سہل بن سعد رضی اللہ عنہ اس دن اس عورت کا نام لے رہے تھے) کہ تو اپنے غلام کو جو بڑھئی ہے اتنی فرصت دے کہ میرے لئے چند لکڑیاں یعنی منبر بنا دے کہ جس پر میں لوگوں سے بات کروں (یعنی وعظ و نصیحت کروں) تو اس غلام نے تین سیڑھیوں کا ایک منبر بنایا اور رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے حکم کیا تو وہ مسجد میں اس مقام پر رکھا گیا۔ اس کی لکڑی غابہ کے جھاؤ کی تھی (غابہ مدینہ کی بلندی میں ایک مقام ہے) اور میں نے دیکھا کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلماس پر کھڑے ہوئے اور تکبیر کہی۔ لوگوں نے بھی آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پیچھے تکبیر کہی اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلممنبر پر تھے۔ پھر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے رکوع سے سر اٹھایا اور الٹے پاؤں پیچھے اترے یہاں تک کہ منبر کی جڑ میں سجدہ کیا۔ پھر منبر پر لوٹے یہاں تک کہ نماز سے فارغ ہوئے۔ اس کے بعد آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلملوگوں کی طرف متوجہ ہوئے اور فرمایا کہ اے لوگو! میں نے یہ اس لئے کیا کہ تم میری پیروی کرو اور میری طرح نماز پڑھنا سیکھو۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 408]
