English Translation
Narrated Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saw spittle in the mosque toward the qiblah, so he turned to the people and said, "What is the matter with you that one of you stands facing his Lord and then spits in front of himself? Would any of you like it if someone faced him and then spat in front of him? When one of you feels the need to spit, let him spit to his left, under his foot; and if there is no room, then let him do thus." (The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) demonstrated this act.) Qasim (who is the narrator of this hadith) related that he spat into his garment and then rubbed the same garment over it. [Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 344]
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے مسجد میں قبلے کی طرف تھوک دیکھا تو لوگوں کی طرف متوجہ ہوئے اور فرمایا کہ تمہارا کیا حال ہے کہ تم میں سے کوئی اپنے پروردگار کی طرف منہ کر کے کھڑا ہوتا ہے، پھر اپنے سامنے تھوکتا ہے، کیا تم میں سے کوئی اس بات کو پسند کرتا ہے کہ کوئی اس کی طرف منہ کرے اور پھر اس کے سامنے تھوک دے؟ جب تم میں سے کسی کو تھو آئے تو بائیں طرف قدم کے نیچے تھوکے اگر جگہ نہ ہو تو ایسا کرے (آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے یہ عمل کر کے دکھایا)۔ قاسم نے (جو کہ اس حدیث کا راوی ہے) یوں بیان کیا کہ اپنے کپڑے میں تھوکا پھر اسی کپڑے کو مل ڈالا۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 344]
