English Translation
Narrated Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them both): We considered that (in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)) none stayed away from the congregational prayer except a hypocrite whose hypocrisy was evident, or a sick person. Even a sick person, if he could come supported on the shoulders of two men, would come and join the prayer. And he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) taught us the matters of religion and guidance, and among these matters of guidance is to pray in a mosque in which the adhan is called. Urdu Translation
سیدنا عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہہم خیال کرتے تھے کہ (رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے عہد میں) نماز باجماعت سے وہی منافق پیچھے رہتا تھا جس کا نفاق ظاہر ہو یا پھر بیمار آدمی۔ اور بیمار آدمی بھی دو آدمیوں کے کندھوں پر ہاتھ رکھ کر (آ سکتا) تو آتا اور نماز میں ملتا تھا۔ اور انہوں نے کہا کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے ہمیں دین اور ہدایت کی باتیں سکھائیں اور انہی ہدایت کی باتوں میں سے ہے کہ ایسی مسجد میں نماز پڑھنا جس میں اذان ہوتی ہو۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 323]
