English Translation
Narrated Abu Masud al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him): We were sitting with Sad bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came. So Bashir bin Sad (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Allah has commanded us to send blessings upon you (peace be upon him), so tell us how we should send blessings upon you?" After hearing this, he (peace be upon him) remained completely silent, and we wished that he (Bashir, may Allah be pleased with him) had not asked. Then after a little while he (peace be upon him) said, "Send blessings in this way: 'O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim, and bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim among the worlds; indeed You are Praiseworthy, Glorious.' And the manner of sending the salam you already know."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابومسعود انصاری رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہہم لوگ سیدنا سعد بن عبادہ رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس بیٹھے ہوئے تھے کہ اتنے میں رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمتشریف لائے۔ چنانچہ سیدنا بشیر بن سعد رضی اللہ عنہ نے پوچھا کہ یا رسول اللہ! اللہ نے ہمیں آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمپر درود بھیجنے کا حکم دیا ہے، اس لئے بتائیے کہ ہم آپ پر کس طرح درود بھیجیں؟ یہ سننے کے بعد آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمبالکل خاموش رہے اور ہم نے تمنا کی کاش انہوں نے (سیدنا بشیر رضی اللہ عنہ سے) پوچھا ہوتا۔ پھر تھوڑی دیر بعد آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ اس طرح درود پڑھا کرو”اللھم صلی علی محمد وعلی آل محمد کما صلیت علی ابراہیم وعلی آل ابراہیم وبارک علی محمد و علی آل محمد کما بارکت علی ابراہیم و علی آل ابراہیم فی العالمین انک حمید مجید“اور سلام بھیجنے کا طریقہ تمہیں معلوم ہی ہے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 309]
