English Translation
Narrated Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): One day we were sitting in the gathering of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) when a kind of drowsiness came over him (peace be upon him). Then he (peace be upon him) raised his blessed head smiling, so we said, "O Messenger of Allah! What are you smiling at?" He said, "A surah of the Noble Quran has just now been revealed to me." Then he (peace be upon him) recited Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim and recited the whole surah, "(O Prophet, peace be upon him!) Indeed We have given you al-Kawthar..." and said, "Do you know what al-Kawthar is?" We said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." So he said, "Al-Kawthar is a river which my Lord has promised me, in which there are many good things, and on the Day of Gathering my nation will come to drink the water of this pond. On this pond there are as many cups as the stars of the sky. A man will be driven away from there, about whom I will say, 'O Allah! This man is of my nation,' and Allah, the Exalted, will say, 'You do not know what innovations (bidah) they introduced (into the religion) after you.'"
Urdu Translation
سیدنا انس رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہایک دن ہم لوگ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی مجلس میں بیٹھے تھے کہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمپر ایک اونگھ سی طاری ہوئی پھر مسکراتے ہوئے آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے سرمبارک اٹھایا جس پر ہم نے عرض کیا کہ یا رسول اللہ! آپ کس چیز پر مسکرا رہے ہیں؟ ارشاد فرمایا کہ مجھ پر ابھی ابھی قرآن مجید کی ایک سورت نازل ہوئی ہے چنانچہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم پڑھ کر”(اے نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم!) بیشک ہم نے آپ کو کوثر عنایت فرمائی ہے........“پوری سورت تلاوت فرمائی اور فرمایا کہ تم لوگ جانتے ہو کہ کوثر کیا چیز ہے؟ ہم نے کہا کہ اللہ اور اس کا رسول ہی زیادہ جانتے ہیں تو ارشاد فرمایا کہ کوثر ایک نہر ہے، جس کا پروردگار نے مجھ سے وعدہ کیا ہے، اس میں بہت سی خوبیاں ہیں اور بروز محشر میرے امتی اس حوض کا پانی پینے کے لئے آئیں گے اس حوض پر اتنے گلاس ہیں جتنے آسمان کے تارے۔ ایک شخص کو وہاں سے بھگا دیا جائے گا، جس پہ میں کہوں گا کہ اے اللہ! یہ شخص میرا امتی ہے، اللہ تعالیٰ فرمائے گا کہ آپ نہیں جانتے کہ انہوں نے آپ کے بعد (دین میں) کیا کیا نئی باتیں (بدعت) ایجاد کیں۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 280]
