English Translation
Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: A man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! On the outskirts of Medina I took pleasure with a woman, and I did everything except intercourse. Now I am here; decide about me whatever you wish. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Allah had concealed your sin; it would have been better had you kept it concealed. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) gave him no reply. So the man got up and walked away. Then he (peace be upon him) sent a man after him, called him back, and recited this verse: "Indeed, good deeds remove evil deeds..." A man said: O Messenger of Allah! Is this ruling specifically for him? He (peace be upon him) said: No, rather it is for everyone.
Urdu Translation
سیدنا عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہایک آدمی رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس آیا اور کہا کہ یا رسول اللہ! میں نے مدینہ کے کنارے میں نے ایک عورت سے مزہ اٹھایا اور میں نے سب باتیں کیں سوائے جماع کے۔ اب میں حاضر ہوں جو چاہے میرے بارے میں حکم دیجئیے۔ سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ اللہ نے تیرے گناہ پر پردہ ڈال رکھا تھا، تو بھی اگر پردہ ڈالے رکھتا تو بہتر ہوتا۔ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے اسے کچھ جواب نہ دیا۔ تب وہ شخص کھڑا ہوا اور چل پڑا۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے اس کے پیچھے ایک شخص کو بھیجا اور بلا کر یہ آیت پڑھی: ((انّ الحسنات یذھبن ....)) ایک شخص بولا کہ یا رسول اللہ! یہ حکم خاص اسی کے لئے ہے؟ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ نہیں بلکہ سب کے لئے ہے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 2143]
