English Translation
Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The accursed Abu Jahl said: "O Allah! If this Qur'an is the truth and is from You, then rain down stones upon us from the sky, or send a painful punishment." At that time this verse was revealed: "Allah would not punish them while you (O Prophet) are among them, and Allah would not punish them while they seek forgiveness. And what is the matter with them that Allah should not punish them while they bar (people) from the Sacred Mosque..." to the end.
Urdu Translation
سیدنا انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہابوجہل لعین نے کہا کہ”اے اللہ! اگر یہ قرآن سچ ہے اور تیری طرف سے ہے، تو ہم پر آسمان سے پتھر برسا، یا دکھ کا عذاب بھیج“اس وقت یہ آیت اتری کہ”اللہ تعالیٰ ان کو عذاب کرنے والا نہیں ہے جب تک (اے نبی) تو ان میں موجود ہے اور اللہ تعالیٰ ان کو عذاب کرنے والا نہیں ہے جب تک وہ استغفار کرتے ہیں۔ اور کیا ہوا جو اللہ عذاب نہ کرے ان کو حالانکہ وہ مسجدالحرام میں آنے سے روکتے ہیں ........“آخر تک۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 2141]
