English Translation
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: A woman (in the time of ignorance) used to circumambulate the Ka'ba naked and would say: Who will give me a garment to place over my private part? And she would say: Today all or part will be uncovered, but whatever is uncovered I will never make lawful (i.e., it becomes forever forbidden. Islam abolished this vile custom). Then this verse was revealed: "Take your adornment (dress properly) at every place of prayer."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہعورت (جاہلیت کے زمانہ میں) خانہ کعبہ کا طواف ننگی ہو کر کرتی اور کہتی کہ کون مجھے ایک کپڑا دیتا ہے کہ وہ اسے اپنی شرمگاہ پر ڈال لے؟ اور کہتی کہ آج کھل جائے گا سب یا بعض پھر جو کھل جائے گا اس کو کبھی حلال نہ کروں گی (یعنی وہ ہمیشہ کے لئے حرام ہو گیا۔ یہ بیہودہ رسم اسلام نے ختم کر دی) تب یہ آیت اتری کہ”ہر مسجد کے پاس اپنے کپڑے پہن کر جاؤ“[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 2139]
