English Translation
Sayyiduna Abu Malik al-Ashja'i narrates from his father (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) when a man came to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah! When I ask my Lord, what should I say?" He (peace be upon him) said: "Say: 'O Allah! Forgive me, have mercy on me, protect me (from sins), and grant me (lawful and pure) provision.'" And while saying these words, he (peace be upon him) folded his fingers one by one until all were folded except the thumb. He (peace be upon him) said: "These words gather for you the benefits of both this world and the Hereafter."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابومالک اشجعی اپنے والد رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہانہوں نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے سنا اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس ایک آدمی آیا اور کہنے لگا کہ یا رسول اللہ! جب اپنے رب سے مانگوں تو کیا کہوں؟ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ کہہ”اے اللہ! میرے گناہ بخش دے اور مجھ پر رحم کر اور مجھے (گناہوں سے) بچا اور مجھے (حلال و پاکیزہ) رزق عطا فرما“اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمان کلمات کو فرماتے وقت ایک ایک انگلی بند کرتے جاتے تھے تو سب بند کر لیں صرف انگوٹھا رہ گیا آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ یہ کلمے دنیا اور آخرت دونوں کے فائدے تیرے لئے اکٹھا کر دیں گے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1872]
