English Translation
Narrated Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): The polytheists of Quraysh came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) disputing about divine decree (qadar), whereupon this verse was revealed: "On the Day when they are dragged into the Fire on their faces (it will be said), 'Now taste the touch of Hell (its Fire). Indeed, We have created everything according to a measure (qadar).'" (al-Qamar: 48-49). (From this hadith it is understood that in this verse, by 'qadar' is meant this very divine decree; and some have interpreted it to mean, 'We have created everything according to its measure,' that is, in the proportion that was fitting.)
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہمشرکین قریش تقدیر کے بارے میں جھگڑتے ہوئے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس آئے تو یہ آیت اتری کہ”جس دن اوندھے منہ جہنم میں گھسیٹے جائیں گے (اور کہا جائے گا کہ) اب جہنم (کی آگ) کا لگنا چکھو۔ ہم نے ہر چیز کو تقدیر کے ساتھ پیدا کیا ہے“(القمر: 48-49)۔ (اس حدیث سے معلوم ہوا کہ اس آیت میں قدر سے یہی تقدیر مراد ہے اور بعض نے اس کے یہ معنی کئے ہیں کہ ہم نے ہر چیز کو اس کے اندازے پر پیدا کیا یعنی جتنا مناسب تھا)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1838]
