English Translation
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said (reciting): "And whoever conceals anything, he will bring it forth on the Day of Resurrection" (Surah Al Imran: 161). Then he said: Whose recitation do you command me to recite the Qur'an like? I recited more than seventy surahs before the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) know that I know the Book of Allah better than all of them; and if I knew that anyone knew the Book of Allah better than I, I would journey to that person. Shaqiq said: I have sat in the circles of the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and I did not hear anyone reject this statement of Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) or find fault with it.
Urdu Translation
سیدنا عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہانہوں نے کہا کہ”اور جو کوئی چیز چھپا رکھے گا، وہ اس کو قیامت کے دن لائے گا“(سورۃ: آل عمران: 161) پھر کہا کہ تم مجھے کس شخص کی قرآت کی طرح قرآن پڑھنے کا حکم کرتے ہو؟ میں نے تو رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے سامنے ستر سے زیادہ سورتیں پڑھیں اور رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے اصحاب یہ جانتے ہیں کہ میں ان سب میں اللہ کی کتاب کو زیادہ جانتا ہوں اور اگر میں جانتا کہ کوئی مجھ سے زیادہ اللہ کی کتاب کو جانتا ہے تو میں اس شخص کی طرف سفر اختیار کرتا۔ شفیق نے کہا کہ میں رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے اصحاب کے حلقوں میں بیٹھا ہوں، میں نے کسی کو سیدنا عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ کی اس بات کو رد کرتے یا ان پر عیب لگاتے نہیں سنا۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1695]
