English Translation
Narrated Abdullah bin Abi Qays: I asked Umm al-Mu'minin Aishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) about the witr of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and she narrated the hadith (concerning witr). I said: "What did the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) do in the state of major ritual impurity (janabah)? Did he bathe before sleeping, or sleep before bathing?" She said: He did both. Sometimes he would bathe, then sleep, and sometimes he would perform ablution and then sleep. I said: All praise is due to Allah, who has provided leeway in this matter.
Urdu Translation
سیدنا عبداللہ بن ابی قیس سے روایت ہے کہمیں نے ام المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے وتر کے بارے میں پوچھا پھر حدیث (وتر کے متعلق) بیان کی۔ میں نے کہا آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمجنابت میں کیا کیا کرتے تھے؟ کیا آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسونے سے پہلے غسل کرتے تھے یا غسل سے پہلے سو جاتے تھے؟ انہوں نے کہا کہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمدونوں طرح کرتے تھے، کبھی غسل کر لیتے، پھر سوتے اور کبھی وضو کر کے سو رہتے۔ میں نے کہا کہ اللہ کا شکر ہے جس نے اس امر میں گنجائش رکھی۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 163]
