English Translation
Narrated Shaqiq bin Abu Wa'il: Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to preach to us every Thursday. A man said, "O Abu Abd al-Rahman (this is the kunyah of Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him), we wish (to hear) your discourse and love it, and we would like you to narrate hadith to us every day." Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "The reason I do not narrate hadith to you every day is that I dislike causing you weariness. And the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to appoint a particular day among several days, because he disliked causing us fatigue (that is, becoming burdensome)." Urdu Translation
شفیق بن ابووائل کہتے ہیں کہسیدنا عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہما ہمیں ہر جمعرات کو وعظ سنایا کرتے تھے ایک شخص بولا کہ اے ابوعبدالرحمن! (یہ سیدنا عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ کی کنیت ہے) ہم تمہاری گفتگو (سننا) چاہتے ہیں اور پسند کرتے ہیں ہم یہ چاہتے کہ تم ہمیں ہر روز حدیث سنایا کرو۔ سیدنا عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ میں تم کو جو ہر روز حدیث نہیں سناتا تو اس وجہ سے کہ تمہیں اکتاہٹ میں ڈال دینا برا جانتا ہوں اور رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکئی دنوں میں کوئی دن مقرر کرتے تھے اس لئے کہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمہمیں رنج دینا برا جانتے تھے (یعنی بار ہونا)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1584]
