English Translation
Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: A man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and was asking him (peace be upon him) for food, so he (peace be upon him) gave him half a wasq of barley (one wasq is sixty sa). Then that man, his wife, and his guest kept eating from it, until the man measured it. Then he came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and he (peace be upon him) said, "Had you not measured it, you would have kept eating from it and it would have remained just so (because their trust in Allah the Exalted departed and impatience appeared; then how could the blessing remain?)."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا جابر رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہایک آدمی رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس آیا اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے کھانا طلب کر رہا تھا تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے اس کو آدھا وسق جو دئیے (ایک وسق ساٹھ صاع کا ہوتا ہے)۔ پھر وہ شخص، اس کی بیوی اور مہمان ہمیشہ اس میں کھاتے رہے، یہاں تک کہ اس شخص نے اس کو ماپا۔ پھر وہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس آیا تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ اگر تو اس کو نہ ماپتا تو ہمیشہ اس میں سے کھاتے اور وہ ایسا ہی رہتا (کیونکہ ان سے اللہ تعالیٰ کا بھروسہ جاتا رہا اور بےصبری ظاہر ہوئی پھر برکت کہاں رہے گی)[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1531]
