English Translation
Abu Hazim says: I sat with Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) for five years, and I heard him narrating from the Prophet (peace be upon him): "The Children of Israel were governed by prophets. Whenever one prophet died, another prophet would take his place. But the fact is that after me there will be no prophet; rather there will be caliphs, and they will be many." The people asked, "Then what do you (peace be upon him) command us?" He (peace be upon him) said, "Fulfill the allegiance to the one whom you give allegiance first, and render them their due, and Allah the Exalted will question them about what He has entrusted to them."
Urdu Translation
ابوحازم کہتے ہیں کہمیں سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس پانچ سال بیٹھتا رہا اور میں نے انہیں نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے بیان کرتے سنا ہے کہ بنی اسرائیل کی حکومت / سیاست پیغمبر کیا کرتے تھے۔ جب ایک پیغمبر فوت ہوتا تو دوسرا پیغمبر اس کی جگہ ہو جاتا۔ اور شان یہ ہے کہ میرے بعد تو کوئی پیغمبر نہیں ہے بلکہ خلیفہ ہوں گے اور بہت ہوں گے۔ لوگوں نے عرض کیا کہ پھر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمہمیں کیا حکم کرتے ہیں؟ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ جس سے پہلے بیعت کر لو، اسی کی بیعت پوری کرو اور ان کا حق ادا کرو اور اللہ تعالیٰ ان سے پوچھے گا اس کے متعلق جو اس نے ان کو دیا ہے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1198]
