English Translation
Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "If I impose a prescribed punishment on someone and he dies, I would have no concern about it except in the punishment for wine. If someone dies (from it), I would have his blood-money paid, because the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not specify it (that is, giving eighty (80) lashes is not the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him)." Urdu Translation
سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہاگر میں کسی پر حد قائم کروں اور وہ مر جائے، تو مجھے کچھ خیال نہ ہو گا مگر شراب کی حد میں۔ اگر کوئی مر جائے تو اس کی دیت دلاؤں گا، کیونکہ نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے اس کو بیان نہیں فرمایا۔ (یعنی اسی (80) کوڑے لگانا نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی سنت نہیں ہے)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1048]
