Hadrat Yazid al-Faqir (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: This view of the Khawarij (i.e. that those who commit major sins would be eternally doomed to Hell) had obsessed me, and we set out in a large group intending to perform the Hajj and then rise against the people (to propagate the views of the Khawarij). He said: We happened to pass by Madinah and found Hadrat Jabir bin Hadrat 'Abdullah (may Allah be well pleased with them both) sitting near a column narrating to the people the hadiths of the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). He suddenly mentioned the Jahannamiyyun (those who would be taken out of Hell and admitted into Paradise). I said to him: O Companion of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! What are you saying while Allah, the Exalted, says: 'Our Lord! Whomever You admit to the Fire, You have truly disgraced' and 'Every time they wish to come out of it, they will be returned to it'? Hadrat Jabir (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: Do you read the Qur'an? I said: Yes. He said: Have you heard about the Station of Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) — the Praised Station — to which Allah will raise him? I said: Yes. He said: That is the Praised Station of Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) through which Allah will bring people out of the Fire. Then Hadrat Jabir (may Allah be well pleased with him) described the passage over the Sirat and said: I fear I may not have remembered it accurately, but I recall that he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: 'Some people will be taken out of the Fire and will enter Paradise.' (Yazid al-Faqir) said: I returned and said (to my companions): Woe to you! Do you think that this elder has lied about the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)? So we came back (from the Khawarij), and by Allah, not one of us went forth (on that mission) except one man.

محمد بن ابی ایوب نے کہا: مجھے یزید الفقیر نے حدیث سنائی، انہوں نے کہا: خارجیوں کے نظریات میں سے ایک بات میرے دل میں گھر کر گئی تھی۔ ہم ایک جماعت میں نکلے جس کی اچھی خاصی تعداد تھی۔ ہمارا ارادہ تھا کہ حج کریں اور پھر لوگوں کے خلاف خروج کریں (جنگ کریں)۔ ہم مدینہ سے گزرے تو ہم نے دیکھا کہ حضرت جابر بن عبد اللہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما (ایک ستون کے پاس بیٹھے) لوگوں کو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی احادیث سنا رہے ہیں، انہوں نے اچانک جہنمیوں (جہنم سے نکل کر جنت میں پہنچنے والے لوگوں) کا تذکرہ کیا۔ میں نے ان سے کہا: اے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے صحابی! آپ یہ کیا فرما رہے ہیں جبکہ اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتا ہے: ''اے ہمارے رب! جسے تو نے آگ میں ڈالا اسے تو نے رسوا کر دیا'' اور ''ہر بار جب وہ اس میں سے نکلنا چاہیں گے تو واپس ڈال دیے جائیں گے۔'' حضرت جابر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: کیا تم قرآن پڑھتے ہو؟ میں نے کہا: ہاں۔ فرمایا: کیا تم نے محمد صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے (مقام محمود کے بارے میں) سنا ہے جہاں اللہ تعالیٰ انہیں پہنچائے گا؟ میں نے کہا: ہاں۔ فرمایا: وہی تو محمد صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کا مقام محمود ہے جس کے ذریعے اللہ تعالیٰ لوگوں کو آگ سے نکالے گا۔ پھر حضرت جابر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے پل صراط کے بارے میں بیان فرمایا اور فرمایا: مجھے ڈر ہے کہ میں اسے اچھی طرح یاد نہ رکھ سکا ہوں، البتہ اتنا یاد ہے کہ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ''کچھ لوگ دوزخ سے نکالے جائیں گے اور وہ جنت میں داخل ہو جائیں گے۔'' (یزید الفقیر نے) کہا: میں واپس لوٹا اور کہا: تم پر افسوس! کیا تم سمجھتے ہو کہ اس بزرگ نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم پر جھوٹ بولا ہے؟ چنانچہ ہم (خوارج سے الگ ہو کر) واپس آ گئے اور اللہ کی قسم! ایک شخص کے سوا ہم سب نے وہ (خارجی) نظریات چھوڑ دیے۔
