Arabic (Original)
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ مَا أَعْلَمُ لَبَكَيْتُمْ كَثِيرًا وَلَضَحِكْتُمْ قَلِيلا». رَوَاهُ البُخَارِيّ
English Translation
Anas reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) entered upon a young man who was dying and said: "How do you feel?" He said: "By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, I hope in Allah but I fear for my sins." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "These two qualities — hope and fear — do not come together in the heart of a servant at a time like this except that Allah gives him what he hopes for and protects him from what he fears." Narrated by al-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah.
Urdu Translation
ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں، ابوالقاسم صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا:”اس ذات کی قسم جس کے ہاتھ میں میری جان ہے! اگر تم (نافرمانوں کے عذاب کے متعلق) جان لو جو میں جانتا ہوں تو تم زیادہ روؤ اور کم ہنسو۔“رواہ البخاری۔[مشكوة المصابيح/كتاب الرقاق/حدیث: 5339]
