Arabic (Original)
عَن أبي الْجُهَيْم الْأنْصَارِيّ قَالَ: أَقْبَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ نَحْوِ بِئْرِ جَمَلٍ فَلَقِيَهُ رَجُلٌ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى أَقْبَلَ عَلَى الْجِدَارِ فَمَسَحَ بِوَجْهِهِ وَيَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ رَدَّ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام
English Translation
Hadrat Abul Juhaim b. al-Harith b. as-Simma said that once when coming from the direction of Bi’r Jamal* the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was met by a man who saluted him, but the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) did not respond to his salutation till he went towards the wall and wiped his face and his hands. Then he responded to his salutation. *A well in Medina. (Bukhari and Muslim.)
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابو الجہیم بن حارث بن صمہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں: ایک بار نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم بئر جمل کی طرف سے آ رہے تھے کہ ایک شخص نے سلام کیا۔ آپ نے سلام کا جواب نہ دیا یہاں تک کہ دیوار کے پاس گئے اور اپنے منہ اور ہاتھوں پر مسح کیا، پھر سلام کا جواب دیا۔ (بخاری و مسلم)
