عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ رَجُلًا مِنْ بَنِي مَخْزُومٍ عَلَى الصَّدَقَةِ فَقَالَ لِأَبِي رَافِعٍ: اصْحَبْنِي كَيْمَا تُصِيبُ مِنْهَا. فَقَالَ: لَا حَتَّى أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَسْأَلَهُ. فَانْطَلَقَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ: «إِنَّ الصَّدَقَةَ لَا تَحِلُّ لَنَا وَإِنَّ مَوَالِيَ الْقَوْمِ مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ» . رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَأَبُو دَاوُد وَالنَّسَائِيّ
English Translation
Hadrat Abu Rafi' said God’s messenger sent a man of the B. Makhzum to collect sadaqa and he asked him to accompany him so that he might get some of it; but he refused to do so till he went to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and asked him. He went to the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and asked him, and he said, “The sadaqa is not lawful for us, and the clients of a people are treated as being of their number.” * Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud and Nasa’i transmitted it. * Abu Rafi’ had been a slave of the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) by whom he was set free. The point of the tradition is that the rules which apply to any people apply to their freedmen as well, and so Abu Rafi' was not entitled to receive sadaqa.
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابو رافع رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے بنو مخزوم کے ایک شخص کو صدقہ وصول کرنے کے لیے بھیجا، تو اس نے مجھ سے کہا کہ میرے ساتھ چلو تاکہ تمہیں بھی کچھ ملے۔ میں نے انکار کیا یہاں تک کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس جا کر پوچھوں۔ میں نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہو کر پوچھا تو آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: صدقہ ہمارے لیے حلال نہیں، اور کسی قوم کے آزاد کردہ غلام انہی میں سے شمار ہوتے ہیں۔ (ترمذی، ابو داؤد و نسائی)
