Arabic (Original)
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قِيلَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: لِأَيِّ شَيْءٍ سُمِّيَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ؟ قَالَ: «لِأَنَّ فِيهَا طُبِعَتْ طِينَةُ أَبِيكَ آدَمَ وَفِيهَا الصَّعْقَةُ وَالْبَعْثَةُ وَفِيهَا الْبَطْشَةُ وَفِي آخِرِ ثَلَاثِ سَاعَاتٍ مِنْهَا سَاعَةٌ مَنْ دَعَا الله فِيهَا اسْتُجِيبَ لَهُ» . رَوَاهُ أَحْمد
English Translation
Hadrat Abu Huraira said that when the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was asked for what reason Friday got its name he replied, "Because on it the nature of your father Adam (upon him be peace) was fashioned, on it will take place the shout and the resurrection of the dead, on it the assault* will take place, and at the end of three hours in it there is a time at which anyone who makes supplication to God will be answered." * cf. Al-Qur’an, 44:16. Ahmad transmitted it.
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے عرض کیا گیا: جمعہ کا نام جمعہ کیوں رکھا گیا؟ آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: اس لیے کہ اس دن تمہارے جدِ امجد حضرت آدم علیہ السلام کی طینت (مٹی) تیار کی گئی، اور اس میں صعقۃ (بے ہوشی) اور بعثۃ (اٹھایا جانا) ہے، اس میں آخری تین گھنٹوں میں ایک ایسی ساعت ہے جس میں کوئی بندہ اللہ تعالیٰ سے دعا کرے تو اسے عطا فرماتا ہے۔ (احمد)
