Arabic (Original)
وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّهُ بَلَغَهُ أَنَّ الْمُؤَذِّنَ، جَاءَ إِلَى عُمَرَ ب��نِ الْخَطَّابِ يُؤْذِنُهُ لِصَلاَةِ الصُّبْحِ فَوَجَدَهُ نَائِمًا فَقَالَ الصَّلاَةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ . فَأَمَرَهُ عُمَرُ أَنْ يَجْعَلَهَا فِي نِدَاءِ الصُّبْحِ .
English Translation
Yahya (upon him be peace) related to me from Malik that he had heard that the muadhdhin came to Umar ibn al-Khattab to call him to the subh prayer and found him sleeping, so he said, "Prayer is better than sleep," and Umar ordered him to put that in the adhan for subh .
Urdu Translation
امام مالک کو یہ روایت پہنچی کہ مؤذن حضرت عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے پاس آیا صبح کی نماز کی اطلاع دینے کے لیے تو انہیں سوتے ہوئے پایا، تو کہا: الصلاۃ خیر من النوم (نماز نیند سے بہتر ہے)۔ حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے اسے حکم دیا کہ یہ کلمات صبح کی اذان میں شامل کر دے۔
