717 صحيح حديث عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ، قَالَ: قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: يَا عَبْدَ اللهِ لاَ تَكُنْ مِثْلَ فُلاَنٍ، كَانَ يَقُومُ اللَّيْلَ فَتَرَكَ قِيَامَ اللَّيْلِ
English Translation
Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to me: "The most beloved fasting to Allah is the fasting of Dawud: he used to fast one day and not fast the next. And the most beloved prayer to Allah is the prayer of Dawud: he used to sleep half the night, pray a third, and sleep a sixth."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا عبداللہ بن عمرو بن عاص رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے مجھے فرمایا:”اے عبداللہ! فلاں کی طرح نہ ہو جانا، وہ رات میں عبادت کیا کرتا تھا پھر چھوڑ دی۔“[اللؤلؤ والمرجان/كتاب الصيام/حدیث: 717]
