Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَنْبَأَنَا الثَّوْرِيُّ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ يُقَالُ لَهُ مُجَاشِعٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ فَعَزَّتِ الْغَنَمُ فَأَمَرَ مُنَادِيًا فَنَادَى أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ كَانَ يَقُولُ " إِنَّ الْجَذَعَ يُوفِي مِمَّا تُوفِي مِنْهُ الثَّنِيَّةُ " .
English Translation
It was narrated from ‘Asim bin Kulaib that his father said:“We were with a man from among the Companions of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) who was called Mujashi’, from Banu Sulaim, and sheep became scarce. He ordered a caller to call out that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) used to say: ‘A Jadha’a suffices for whatever a two-year-old sheep suffices.’”
Urdu Translation
کلیب کہتے ہیں کہ ہم لوگ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے اصحاب میں سے بنی سلیم کے مجاشع نامی ایک شخص کے ساتھ تھے، بکریوں کی قلت ہو گئی، تو انہوں نے ایک منادی کو حکم دیا، جس نے پکار کر کہا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم فرماتے تھے: ( قربانی کے لیے ) بھیڑ کا ایک سالہ بچہ دانتی بکری کی جگہ پر کافی ہے ۔
