حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، قَالَ قُلْنَا لِزَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ حَدِّثْنَا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ . قَالَ كَبِرْنَا وَنَسِينَا وَالْحَدِيثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ شَدِيدٌ .
English Translation
It is narrated that Hadrat 'Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Laila (may Allah be well pleased with him) said:We said to Hadrat Zaid bin Arqam: 'Tell us a Hadith from the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).' He said: 'We have grown old and have forgotten, and (narrating) Ahadith from the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) is difficult (not a simple matter)
Urdu Translation
عبدالرحمٰن بن ابی لیلیٰ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم نے زید بن ارقم رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے کہا کہ ہم سے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی حدیث بیان کریں، تو وہ کہنے لگے: ہم بوڑھے ہو گئے ہیں، ہم پر نسیان غالب ہو گیا ہے، اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی حدیث بیان کرنا مشکل کام ہے۔
