حَدَّثَنَاابْنُ الْمُقْرِئِ، قَالَ: ثَنَاسُفْيَانُ، عَنْأَبِي حَازِمٍ، سَمِعَسَهْلَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيَّرَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، يَقُولُ:" وَقَعَ بَيْنَ حَيَّيْنِ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ كَلامٌ فِي شَيْءٍ كَانَ بَيْنَهُمْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ حَتَّى نَزَعَ الشَّيْطَانُ بَيْنَهُمْ، وَقَالَ مَرَّةً: حَتَّى تَنَاوَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ بَعْضًا، فَأُخْبِرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأَتَاهُمْ، فَاحْتَبَسَ، فَأَذَّنَ بِلالٌ، فَلَمَّا أَبْطَأَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمْ يَجِئْ، فَأَقَامَ بِلالٌ، فَتَقَدَّمَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، فَلَمَّا تَقَدَّمَ جَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ يَؤُمُّ النَّاسَ، فَتَخَلَّلَ الصُّفُوفَ حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى الصَّفِّ الأَوَّلِ، وَكَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ لا يَلْتَفِتُ فِي صَلاتِهِ، فَصَفَّحَ النَّاسُ هَكَذَا بِأَيْدِيهِمْ، فَلَمَّا سَمِعَ التَّصْفِيحَ الْتَفَتَ، فَإِذَا هُوَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ،فَأَشَارَ إِلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنِ امْكُثْ"، وَقَالَ مَرَّةً: فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ وَنَكَصَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْقَهْقَرَى، فَتَقَدَّمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلاتَهُ، قَالَ: مَا مَنَعَكَ يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ أَنْ تَثْبُتَ؟ قَالَ: مَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيَرَى ابْنَ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ نَبِيِّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
English Translation
Narrated Sahl ibn Sa'd al-Sa'idi (may Allah be pleased with him): A dispute arose between two clans of the Ansar over something that had been between them since the days of Jahiliyyah, until the devil incited between them — or in another narration: until they physically fought each other. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was informed, so he went to them and was delayed. Bilal called the adhan, and when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was further delayed, Bilal called the iqamah. Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) stepped forward to lead the prayer. When he had started, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) arrived while Abu Bakr was leading the people. He passed through the rows until he reached the first row. Abu Bakr never turned during his prayer, but the people clapped their hands. When he heard the clapping, he turned and saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gestured to him to remain in his place. Abu Bakr raised his head toward the sky and stepped back. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stepped forward. When he finished the prayer, he said: "O Abu Bakr, what prevented you from staying?" He said: "It was not fitting for the son of Abu Quhafah to stand before the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا سہل بن سعد رضی اللہ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ زمانہ جاہلیت میں پائے جانے والے اختلاف کی بنا پر دو انصاری قبائل میں تلخ کلامی ہو گئی حتٰی کہ شیطان حائل ہو گیا (یعنی جھگڑ پڑے) اور ایک روایت میں ہے: حتٰی کہ انہوں نے ایک دوسرے کو پکڑ لیا۔ نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو پتہ چلا، تو ان کی صلح کرانے آئے، آپ کو کچھ دیر (نماز تک) ٹھہرنا پڑ گیا، تو سیدنا بلال رضی اللہ عنہ نے اذان کہہ دی، آپ مزید لیٹ ہوئے اور آ نہ سکے، تو سیدنا بلال رضی اللہ عنہ نے اقامت کہہ دی اور سیدنا ابو بکر رضی اللہ عنہ (نماز پڑھانے کے لیے) آگے ہو گئے، امامت شروع کی، تو رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمتشریف لے آئے، آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمصفوں میں سے گزرتے ہوئے، پہلی صف میں کھڑے ہو گئے، سیدنا ابو بکر رضی اللہ عنہ نماز میں ادھر ادھر متوجہ نہیں ہوا کرتے تھے، لوگوں نے تالیاں بجانا شروع کر دیں، جب تالیوں کی آواز سنی، تو اس طرف متوجہ ہوئے کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمتشریف فرما ہیں، رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے انہیں اسی جگہ کھڑا رہنے کا اشارہ کیا، سید نا ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نے آسمان کی طرف سر اٹھایا اور الٹے پاؤں پیچھے ہٹ گئے۔ نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمآگے ہو گئے، نماز پوری کرنے کے بعد پوچھا: ابوبکر! نماز کی امامت جاری کیوں نہ رکھی؟ عرض کیا: اللہ تعالیٰ ابو قحافہ کے بیٹے کو اپنے نبیصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے آگے (کھڑا) نہیں دیکھنا چاہتا۔[المنتقى ابن الجارود/كتاب الصلاة/حدیث: 311]
