أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَحْيَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ السَّيْلَحِينِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ مَرَّ بِأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي يَخْفِضُ صَوْتَهُ وَمَرَّ بِعُمَرَ يُصَلِّي رَافِعًا صَوْتَهُ قَالَ فَلَمَّا اجْتَمَعَا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ «يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ مَرَرْتُ بِكَ وَأَنْتَ تُصَلِّي تَخْفِضُ مِنْ صَوْتِكَ» قَالَ قَدْ أَسْمَعْتُ مَنْ نَاجَيْتُ قَالَ «وَمَرَرْتُ بِكَ يَا عُمَرُ وَأَنْتَ تَرْفَعُ صَوْتَكَ» قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أُوقِظُ الْوَسْنَانَ وَأَحْتَسِبُ بِهِ قَالَ فَقَالَ ﷺ لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ «ارْفَعْ مِنْ صَوْتِكَ شَيْئًا» وَقَالَ ﷺ لِعُمَرَ «اخْفِضْ مِنْ صَوْتِكَ شَيْئًا»
English Translation
Ahmad bin Ali bin al-Muthanna narrated to us, Muhammad bin Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us from Habib bin al-Shahid from Miqsam from Ibn Abbas who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Whoever claims to have seen a dream that he did not see will be commanded to tie a knot between two barley grains, and he will never be able to do so. And whoever listens to people's conversation when they dislike that, or they flee from him, molten lead will be poured into his ears on the Day of Resurrection. And whoever makes an image will be punished and commanded to blow a soul into it, and he will never be able to do so.'
