Hadrat Usayd ibn Hudayr (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated through Ibn Shafi' — who was a physician — he said: Usayd ibn Hudayr called for me, and I cauterized the sciatic vein for him. He told me two hadiths. He said: The people of two households from my tribe came to me — a household from Banu Zafar and a household from Banu Mu'awiyah — and said: "Speak to the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) to distribute to us or give us." So I spoke to the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and he stated: "Yes, I shall distribute to the people of each household half a share. And if Allah returns wealth to us, we shall return to them." I said: "May Allah reward you well, O Messenger of Allah." He stated: "And you — may Allah reward you well. I know you to be chaste and patient." And I heard the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) saying: "You will encounter selfishness after me." When 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be well pleased with him) distributed cloaks among the people and sent me one, I found it too small, so I gave it to my father. While I was praying, a young man from Quraysh passed by me wearing one of those cloaks, dragging it along. I remembered the saying of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him): "You will encounter selfishness after me." I said: "Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth." A man went to 'Umar and informed him. He came while I was praying and said: "O Usayd!" When I finished my prayer, he said: "What did you say?" I told him. He said: "That cloak was one I sent to so-and-so — a veteran of Badr, Uhud, and 'Aqabah. This young man came to him and bought it from him and wore it. Did you think that would happen in my time?" I said: "By Allah, O Commander of the Faithful, I thought that would not happen in your time."
Urdu Translation
حضرت اُسید بن حضیر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے ابن شفیع کے ذریعے — جو طبیب تھے — روایت ہے، وہ کہتے ہیں: اُسید بن حضیر نے مجھے بلایا اور میں نے ان کی عرق النسا کاٹی۔ انہوں نے مجھے دو حدیثیں سنائیں۔ کہا: میرے پاس میری قوم کے دو گھرانوں کے لوگ آئے — بنو ظفر کا ایک گھرانہ اور بنو معاویہ کا ایک گھرانہ — اور کہا: نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے کہو کہ ہمیں تقسیم کریں یا دیں۔ میں نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے بات کی تو فرمایا: «ہاں، میں ہر گھرانے کو آدھا حصہ دوں گا۔ اور اگر اللہ نے ہمیں مزید دیا تو ہم انہیں مزید دیں گے۔» میں نے عرض کیا: اللہ آپ کو جزائے خیر دے یا رسول اللہ! فرمایا: «اور تمہیں بھی اللہ جزائے خیر دے۔ میں تمہیں عفیف اور صبر کرنے والے جانتا ہوں۔» اور میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو فرماتے سنا: «تم میرے بعد اثرہ سے دوچار ہو گے۔» جب حضرت عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے لوگوں میں حلّے تقسیم کیے اور میرے پاس ایک حلہ بھیجا تو مجھے چھوٹا لگا اور میں نے اپنے والد کو دے دیا۔ میں نماز پڑھ رہا تھا کہ قریش کا ایک نوجوان میرے پاس سے گزرا جس نے ان حلوں میں سے ایک حلہ پہنا ہوا تھا اور اسے گھسیٹ رہا تھا۔ مجھے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کا فرمان یاد آیا: «تم میرے بعد اثرہ سے دوچار ہو گے۔» میں نے کہا: اللہ اور اس کے رسول نے سچ فرمایا۔ ایک آدمی عمر کے پاس گیا اور بتایا۔ وہ آئے جبکہ میں نماز پڑھ رہا تھا۔ کہا: اے اُسید! جب میں نے نماز مکمل کی تو کہا: تم نے کیا کہا؟ میں نے بتایا۔ کہا: وہ حلہ میں نے فلاں بن فلاں کو بھیجا تھا جو بدری، اُحدی اور عقبی ہیں۔ اس نوجوان نے ان سے خرید لیا اور پہن لیا۔ کیا تم نے سمجھا کہ ایسا میرے زمانے میں ہو گا؟ میں نے کہا: واللہ اے امیر المؤمنین! مجھے یقین تھا کہ ایسا آپ کے زمانے میں نہیں ہو گا۔
