أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَرْفَعُوا أَصْوَاتَكُمُ فَوْقَ صَوْتِ النَّبِيِّ} قَالَ ثَابِتُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ أَنَا وَاللَّهِ الَّذِي كُنْتُ أَرْفَعُ صَوْتِي عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا أَخْشَى أَنْ يَكُونَ اللَّهُ قَدْ غَضِبَ عَلَيَّ فَحَزِنَ وَاصْفَرَّ فَفَقَدَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَسَأَلَ عَنْهُ فَقِيلَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ إِنَّهُ يَقُولُ إِنِّي أَخْشَى أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَرْفَعُ صَوْتِي عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «بَلْ هُوَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ» فَكُنَّا نَرَاهُ يَمْشِي بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِنَا رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ «
English Translation
Hadrat Anas (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated: When this verse was revealed: {O you who believe, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet} (49:2), Thabit ibn Qays said: "By Allah, I am the one who used to raise my voice in the presence of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and I fear that Allah may have become angry with me." He became grieved and turned pale. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) noticed his absence and asked about him. He was told: "O Prophet of Allah, he says he fears being from the people of the Fire because he used to raise his voice in the presence of the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)." The Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "Rather, he is from the people of Paradise." We used to see him walking among us — a man from the people of Paradise.
Urdu Translation
حضرت انس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے: جب یہ آیت نازل ہوئی: {اے ایمان والو، اپنی آوازیں نبی کی آواز سے اونچی نہ کرو} (49:2)، تو ثابت بن قیس نے کہا: اللہ کی قسم، میں ہی ہوں جو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس اپنی آواز اونچی کرتا تھا، اور مجھے خوف ہے کہ اللہ مجھ پر ناراض ہو گیا ہو۔ وہ غمگین ہوئے اور زرد پڑ گئے۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے انہیں نہ پا کر ان کے بارے میں پوچھا۔ بتایا گیا: یا نبی اللہ، وہ کہتے ہیں مجھے ڈر ہے کہ اہلِ جہنم میں سے ہوں کیونکہ نبی صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس اپنی آواز اونچی کرتا تھا۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: «بلکہ وہ اہلِ جنت میں سے ہیں۔» ہم انہیں اپنے درمیان چلتے دیکھتے تھے — جنت والوں میں سے ایک آدمی۔
