أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ سَهْمٍ قَالَ نَزَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي هَاشِمِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ وَهُوَ مَطْعُونٌ فَأَتَاهُ مُعَاوِيَةُ يَعُودُهُ فَبَكَى أَبُو هَاشِمٍ فقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ مَا يُبْكِيكَ أَيْ خَالِ؟ أَوَجَعٌ أَمْ عَلَى الدُّنْيَا؟ فَقَدْ ذَهَبَ صَفْوُهَا فقَالَ عَلَى كُلٍّ لَا وَلَكِنْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَهِدَ إِلَيَّ عَهْدًا وَوَدِدْتُ أَنِّي كُنْتُ تَبِعْتُهُ قَالَ «إِنَّكَ لَعَلَّكَ أَنْ تُدْرِكَ أَمْوَالًا تُقَسَّمُ بَيْنَ أَقْوَامٍ وَإِنَّمَا يَكْفِيكَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ خَادِمٌ وَمَرْكَبٌ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ» فَأَدْرَكْتُ وَجَمَعْتُ
English Translation
Muhammad bin Ishaq bin Khuzayma narrated to us, Yahya bin Abd Allah bin Bukayr narrated to us, al-Layth bin Sa'd narrated to us from Uqayl from Ibn Shihab who said: Abu Salama bin Abd al-Rahman and Abu Abdullah al-Agharr informed me from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Allah the Mighty and Majestic says: The son of Adam insults Me, and he has no right to do so. And he disbelieves in Me, and he has no right to do so. As for his insulting Me, it is his saying that I have taken a son. And as for his disbelieving in Me, it is his saying that I will not recreate him as I created him the first time.'
