أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْجَعْدِ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ خَيْثَمَةَ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «يَكُونُ بَعْدِي اثْنَا عَشَرَ خَلِيفَةً كُلُّهُمْ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ» فَلَمَّا رَجَعَ إِلَى مَنْزِلِهِ أَتَتْهُ قُرَيْشٌ قَالُوا ثُمَّ يَكُونُ مَاذَا؟ قَالَ «ثُمَّ يَكُونُ الْهَرْجُ»
English Translation
Ahmad ibn Ali ibn al-Muthanna informed us, Ali ibn al-Ja'd al-Jawhari narrated to us, Zuhayr ibn Mu'awiyah informed us from Ziyad ibn Khaythamah from al-Aswad ibn Sa'id al-Hamdani who said: I heard Jabir ibn Samurah say: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "There will be after me twelve caliphs, all of them from Quraysh." When he returned to his home, Quraysh came to him and said: "Then what will happen?" He said: "Then there will be turmoil (al-harj)."
