Hadrat Bilal (may Allah be well pleased with him), the mu'adhdhin of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), was asked about the expenditure of the Beloved Messenger of Allah. He narrated the full account of how he managed the Prophet's spending — borrowing to clothe and feed the needy, how a polytheist lent him money then threatened to re-enslave him, how he sought permission from the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) to flee, and how Allah sent provision through four laden camels from the chief of Fadak. He sold and paid all debts. When only an uqiyyah or so remained, the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: "See that you relieve me of it." He kept asking about it until two riders came and were provided for. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) exclaimed "Allahu Akbar" and praised Allah, fearing death might take him while he still possessed wealth. Then he visited each of his wives to greet them before retiring.

حضرت بلال رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ — رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے مؤذن — سے رسول اللہ کے خرچے کے بارے میں پوچھا گیا۔ انہوں نے تفصیل بیان کی کہ وہ کیسے نبی کا خرچہ سنبھالتے تھے — ضرورت مندوں کو کپڑے اور کھانا دینے کے لیے قرض لیتے، ایک مشرک نے قرض دیا پھر غلام بنانے کی دھمکی دی، انہوں نے نبی صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے جانے کی اجازت مانگی، اور اللہ نے فدک کے سردار کی طرف سے چار لدے ہوئے اونٹ بھیجے۔ انہوں نے بیچا اور تمام قرض ادا کیے۔ جب صرف ایک اوقیہ یا ڈیڑھ بچا تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: "دیکھو اس سے مجھے سکون دلاؤ۔" آپ پوچھتے رہے یہاں تک کہ دو سوار آئے اور ان کو کپڑے اور کھانا دیا گیا۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے تکبیر کہی اور اللہ کی حمد کی — اس خوف سے کہ موت نہ آ جائے اور ان کے پاس مال باقی ہو۔ پھر ہر بیوی کے پاس گئے اور سلام کیا اور آرام فرمایا۔
