أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ قَالَ «كَانَ أَهْلُ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ يَقُولُونَ إِنَّمَا يُهْلِكُنَا اللَّيْلُ وَالنَّهَارُ هُوَ الَّذِي يُهْلِكُنَا وَيُمِيتُنَا وَيُحْيِينَا قَالَ اللَّهُ {مَا هِيَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا الدُّنْيَا} الْآيَةَ»
English Translation
Abu Khalifah narrated to us, Muammal ibn Ismail narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us from Ubayd al-Muktib, from Mujahid, from a man from Banu Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: «Tattoos, omens, and shunning are all polytheism.»
