أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلْمٍ بِبَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ الْأَحْنَفِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَمٍّ لَهُ وَهُوَ جَارِيَةُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قُلْ لِي قَوْلًا يَنْفَعُنِي اللَّهُ بِهِ وَأَقْلِلْ لَعَلِّي لَا أُغْفِلُهُ قَالَ «لَا تَغْضَبْ» فَعَادَ لَهُ مِرَارًا كُلُّ ذَلِكَ يَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَا تَغْضَبْ»
English Translation
Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Salm in Bayt al-Maqdis informed us, Harmala ibn Yahya narrated to us, Ibn Wahb narrated to us, Amr ibn al-Harith informed me, from Hisham ibn Urwa, from his father, from al-Ahnaf ibn Qays, from a cousin of his who is Jariya ibn Qudama that he said: O Messenger of Allah, tell me something by which Allah will benefit me, and keep it brief so that I may not neglect it. He said: 'Do not get angry.' He repeated it to him several times, and each time the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) returned to him saying: 'Do not get angry.'
