أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْبَرَاءَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَمَرَ رَجُلًا إِذَا أَخَذَ مَضْجَعَهُ وَقَالَ ابْنُ كَثِيرٍ أَوْصَى رَجُلًا أَنْ يَقُولَ «اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْلَمْتُ نَفْسِي إِلَيْكَ وَوَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِي إِلَيْكَ وَأَلْجَأْتُ ظَهْرِي إِلَيْكَ وَفَوَّضْتُ أَمْرِي إِلَيْكَ رَغْبَةً وَرَهْبَةً إِلَيْكَ لَا مَلْجَأَ وَلَا مَنْجَا مِنْكَ إِلَّا إِلَيْكَ آمَنْتُ بِكِتَابِكَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلْتَ وَنَبِيِّكَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلْتَ فَإِنْ مَاتَ مَاتَ عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ»
English Translation
Abu Khalifa informed us, he said: Abu al-Walid and Muhammad ibn Kathir narrated to us, they said: Shu'ba narrated to us, he said: Abu Ishaq informed us, he said: I heard al-Bara' say: Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded a man when he takes to his bed - and Ibn Kathir said: He advised a man to say: 'O Allah, I have submitted myself to You, and turned my face to You, and entrusted my back to You, and delegated my affairs to You, out of desire and fear of You. There is no refuge or escape from You except to You. I believe in Your Book which You have revealed and Your Prophet whom You have sent. If he dies, he dies upon the natural disposition (fitrah).'
