English Translation

Al-Fadl ibn al-Hubab informed us, he said: Ibrahim ibn Bashshar al-Ramadi narrated to us, he said: Sufyan narrated to us, from Mansur, from Ibrahim, from Alqama, who said: "A woman from Banu Asad came to Ibn Mas'ud and said: 'It has reached me that you say cursed are the tattooing woman and the woman who seeks to be tattooed, and the woman who plucks eyebrows and the woman who seeks to have her eyebrows plucked. I have read what is between the two covers (of the Quran) and I have not found what you say.' He said: 'Yes, you found it, but you do not know.' She said: 'And where is it?' He said: 'Have you not read {And whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you from, abstain from it}?' She said: 'Yes.' He said: 'That is it.' She said: 'Indeed, I see some of that upon your family.' He said: 'Go in and look.' So she entered and looked but did not see anything. Abdullah said to her: 'Did you see anything?' She said: 'No.' Abdullah said: 'If you had seen any of that, she would not have remained my companion.'"
