English Translation

Ibn Salm informed us, he said: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, he said: al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, he said: al-Awza'i narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Humayd ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, from Hadrat Abu Hurayrah, who said: A man said: "O Messenger of Allah, I am ruined." He said: «Woe to you! What is that?» He said: "I had intercourse with my wife on a day in the month of Ramadan." He said: «Free a slave." He said: "I cannot find one." He said: «Then fast for two consecutive months." He said: "I cannot." He said: «Feed sixty poor people." He said: "I cannot find the means." He said: The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was brought a basket containing fifteen sa' of dates, and he said to him: «Give this in charity." He said: "To one poorer than my family? There is no one between the two lava fields of Madinah more in need than my family." The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) laughed until his canine teeth became visible and said: «Take it, seek Allah's forgiveness, and feed it to your family.»
