أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَطَاءٌ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ انْكَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَذَلِكَ يَوْمَ مَاتَ فِيهِ إِبْرَاهِيمُ فَقَالَ النَّاسُ إِنَّمَا انْكَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ لِمَوْتِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَقَامَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَصَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ سِتَّ رَكَعَاتٍ وَأَرْبَعَ سَجَدَاتٍ كَبَّرَ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ فَأَطَالَ الْقِرَاءَةَ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ نَحْوًا مِمَّا قَامَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَرَأَ دُونَ الْقِرَاءَةِ الْأُولَى ثُمَّ رَكَعَ نَحْوًا مِمَّا قَرَأَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَرَأَ دُونَ الْقِرَاءَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ نَحْوًا مِمَّا قَرَأَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى ثَلَاثَ رَكَعَاتٍ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَسْجُدَ لَيْسَ فِيهَا رَكْعَةٌ إِلَّا الَّتِي قَبْلَهَا أَطْوَلُ مِنَ الَّتِي بَعْدَهَا إِلَّا أَنَّ رُكُوعَهُ نَحْوًا مِنْ قِيَامِهِ ثُمَّ تَأَخَّرَ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَتَأَخَّرَتِ الصُّفُوفُ مَعَهُ ثُمَّ تَقَدَّمَ فَتَقَدَّمْتُ الصُّفُوفُ مَعَهُ فَقَضَى الصَّلَاةَ وَقَدْ أَضَاءَتِ الشَّمْسُ ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ لَا يَنْكَسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ بَشَرٍ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ شَيْئًا مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَصَلُّوا حَتَّى يَنْجَلِيَ»
English Translation
Hadrat Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrated: The sun eclipsed during the time of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and that was the day on which Ibrahim passed away. The people said: 'The sun has eclipsed only because of the death of Ibrahim.' So the Beloved Prophet of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stood and led the people in prayer: six bowings and four prostrations. He said the takbir, then recited and prolonged the recitation, then performed a bowing approximately the length of his standing. Then he raised his head and recited less than the first recitation. Then he performed a bowing approximately the length of his recitation. Then he raised his head and recited less than the second recitation. Then he performed a bowing approximately the length of his recitation. Then he raised his head and prostrated two prostrations. Then he stood and prayed three bowings before prostrating. There was no bowing in them except that the one before it was longer than the one after it, except that his bowing was approximately the length of his standing. Then he stepped back in his prayer, and the rows stepped back with him. Then he stepped forward, and the rows stepped forward with him. He completed the prayer, and the sun had become bright. Then he stated: «O people, indeed the sun and the moon are two signs from among the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse for the death of any human being. So when you see anything of that, pray until it clears.»
Urdu Translation
حضرت جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے زمانے میں سورج کو گرہن لگا اور یہ وہ دن تھا جس میں ابراہیم کی وفات ہوئی۔ لوگوں نے کہا: 'سورج کو گرہن صرف ابراہیم کی وفات کی وجہ سے لگا ہے۔' تو نبی اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کھڑے ہوئے اور لوگوں کو نماز پڑھائی: چھ رکوع اور چار سجدے۔ آپ نے تکبیر کہی، پھر پڑھا اور قراءت لمبی کی، پھر اپنے قیام کے برابر رکوع کیا۔ پھر سر اٹھایا اور پہلی قراءت سے کم پڑھا۔ پھر اپنی قراءت کے برابر رکوع کیا۔ پھر سر اٹھایا اور دوسری قراءت سے کم پڑھا۔ پھر اپنی قراءت کے برابر رکوع کیا۔ پھر سر اٹھایا اور دو سجدے کیے۔ پھر کھڑے ہوئے اور سجدہ کرنے سے پہلے تین رکوع کیے۔ ان میں کوئی رکوع نہیں تھا مگر اس سے پہلے والا اس کے بعد والے سے لمبا تھا سوائے اس کے کہ ان کا رکوع ان کے قیام کے برابر تھا۔ پھر آپ اپنی نماز میں پیچھے ہٹے اور صفیں آپ کے ساتھ پیچھے ہٹیں۔ پھر آپ آگے بڑھے اور صفیں آپ کے ساتھ آگے بڑھیں۔ آپ نے نماز مکمل کی اور سورج روشن ہو چکا تھا۔ پھر آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: «اے لوگو! بے شک سورج اور چاند اللہ کی نشانیوں میں سے دو نشانیاں ہیں۔ یہ کسی انسان کی موت کے لیے نہیں گرہن ہوتے۔ پس جب تم اس میں سے کچھ دیکھو تو نماز پڑھو یہاں تک کہ صاف ہو جائے۔»
