Hadrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrated: The sun eclipsed during the time of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), so the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) prayed with the people. He stood for a long time, approximately the length of Surah al-Baqarah, then performed a long bowing, then raised his head and stood for a long time, though it was shorter than the first standing. Then he performed a long bowing, though it was shorter than the first bowing, then prostrated. Then he stood for a long time, though it was shorter than the first standing. Then he performed a long bowing, though it was shorter than the first bowing. Then he raised his head and stood for a long time, though it was shorter than the first standing. Then he performed a long bowing, though it was shorter than the first bowing, then prostrated. Then he departed, and the sun had cleared. He stated: «Indeed, the sun and the moon are two signs from among the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse for the death of anyone nor for their life. So when you see that, remember Allah.» They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, we saw you reach out for something in your standing place, then we saw you step back.' He stated: «Indeed, I saw Paradise, or I was shown Paradise, and I reached out for a cluster of grapes from it. If I had taken it, you would have eaten from it for as long as the world remains. And I saw the Fire, and I have never seen such a sight as I saw today. And I saw that most of its inhabitants were women.» They said: 'Why is that, O Messenger of Allah?' He stated: «Because of their ingratitude.» It was asked: 'Do they disbelieve in Allah?' He stated: «They are ungrateful to their husbands and ungrateful for kindness. If you were to do good to one of them for a lifetime, then she sees something from you, she says: By Allah, I have never seen any good from you at all.»»

حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے زمانے میں سورج کو گرہن لگا تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے لوگوں کے ساتھ نماز پڑھی۔ آپ نے ایک لمبا قیام کیا تقریباً سورۃ البقرۃ کے برابر، پھر ایک لمبا رکوع کیا، پھر سر اٹھایا اور لمبا قیام کیا جو پہلے قیام سے کم تھا۔ پھر ایک لمبا رکوع کیا جو پہلے رکوع سے کم تھا، پھر سجدہ کیا۔ پھر کھڑے ہوئے اور لمبا قیام کیا جو پہلے قیام سے کم تھا۔ پھر لمبا رکوع کیا جو پہلے رکوع سے کم تھا۔ پھر سر اٹھایا اور لمبا قیام کیا جو پہلے قیام سے کم تھا۔ پھر لمبا رکوع کیا جو پہلے رکوع سے کم تھا، پھر سجدہ کیا۔ پھر آپ فارغ ہوئے اور سورج صاف ہو چکا تھا۔ آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: «بے شک سورج اور چاند اللہ کی نشانیوں میں سے دو نشانیاں ہیں۔ یہ کسی کی موت یا زندگی کے لیے نہیں گرہن ہوتے۔ پس جب تم یہ دیکھو تو اللہ کو یاد کرو۔» صحابہ نے عرض کیا: 'یا رسول اللہ! ہم نے دیکھا کہ آپ نے اپنے مقام پر کسی چیز کی طرف ہاتھ بڑھایا پھر ہم نے دیکھا کہ آپ پیچھے ہٹے۔' آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: «میں نے جنت دیکھی یا مجھے جنت دکھائی گئی تو میں نے اس میں سے انگور کا ایک خوشہ لینے کے لیے ہاتھ بڑھایا۔ اگر میں اسے لے لیتا تو تم اس سے کھاتے جب تک دنیا باقی رہتی۔ اور میں نے آگ دیکھی، میں نے آج کے دن جیسا منظر کبھی نہیں دیکھا تھا۔ اور میں نے دیکھا کہ اس کے زیادہ تر باشندے عورتیں ہیں۔» صحابہ نے عرض کیا: 'یا رسول اللہ! کیوں؟' آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: «ان کے کفران کی وجہ سے۔» پوچھا گیا: 'کیا وہ اللہ کے ساتھ کفر کرتی ہیں؟' آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: «وہ شوہر کا کفران کرتی ہیں اور احسان کا کفران کرتی ہیں۔ اگر تم ان میں سے کسی ایک کے ساتھ ساری عمر احسان کرو پھر وہ تم سے کوئی ایک بات دیکھ لے تو کہتی ہے: اللہ کی قسم! میں نے تم سے کبھی کوئی بھلائی نہیں دیکھی۔»»
