أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ ذَهَبَ إِلَى بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ لِيُصْلِحَ بَيْنَهُمْ وَحَانَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَجَاءَ بِلَالٌ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ ؓ فَقَالَ أَتُصَلِّي لِلنَّاسِ فَأُقِيمَ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَصَلَّى أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَالنَّاسُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَتَخَلَّصَ حَتَّى وَقَفَ فِي الصَّفِّ فَصَفَّقَ النَّاسُ وَكَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ لَا يَلْتَفِتُ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلَمَّا أَكْثَرَ النَّاسُ التَّصْفِيقَ الْتَفَتَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَرَأَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَشَارَ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنِ اثْبُتْ مَكَانَكَ فَرَفَعَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَدَيْهِ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى عَلَى مَا أَمَرَهُ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ اسْتَأْخَرَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ حَتَّى اسْتَوَى فِي الصَّفِّ وَتَقَدَّمَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَصَلَّى فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ «يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تَلْبَثَ إِذْ أَمَرْتُكَ؟ » فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مَا كَانَ لِابْنِ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَا لِي رَأَيْتُكُمْ أَكْثَرْتُمُ التَّصْفِيقَ؟ مَنْ نَابَهُ شَيْءٌ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلْيُسَبِّحْ فَإِنَّهُ إِنْ سَبَّحَ الْتُفِتَ إِلَيْهِ وَإِنَّمَا التَّصْفِيقُ لِلنِّسَاءِ»
English Translation
It is narrated from Hadrat Sahl ibn Sa'd (may Allah be well pleased with him) that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) went to Banu Amr ibn Awf to reconcile between them. The time of prayer came, so Hadrat Bilal came to Hadrat Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be well pleased with him) and said: 'Will you lead the people in prayer so that I may call the iqamah?' He said: 'Yes.' So Abu Bakr prayed. Then the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) came while the people were in prayer, and he made his way through until he stood in the row. The people clapped, and Abu Bakr would not turn around during his prayer. But when the people increased their clapping, Abu Bakr turned and saw the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) gestured to him to stay in his place. Abu Bakr raised his hands and praised Allah Most High for what the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) had commanded him. Then Abu Bakr stepped back until he was in the row, and the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stepped forward and led the prayer. When he finished, he stated: 'O Abu Bakr, what prevented you from staying when I commanded you?' Abu Bakr said: 'It was not for the son of Abu Quhafah to pray in front of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).' Then the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: 'Why did I see you clapping so much? Whoever has something happen to him in his prayer, let him say SubhanAllah, for if he says SubhanAllah, he will be attended to. Clapping is only for women.'
Urdu Translation
حضرت سہل بن سعد رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم بنو عمرو بن عوف کے ہاں ان کے درمیان صلح کرانے تشریف لے گئے۔ نماز کا وقت آیا تو حضرت بلال رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ حضرت ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے پاس آئے اور عرض کیا: کیا آپ لوگوں کو نماز پڑھائیں گے تو میں اقامت کہوں؟ انہوں نے فرمایا: ہاں۔ تو ابوبکر نے نماز پڑھائی۔ پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم تشریف لائے جب لوگ نماز میں تھے، آپ لوگوں میں سے گزرتے ہوئے صف میں کھڑے ہوئے۔ لوگوں نے تالیاں بجائیں، اور ابوبکر اپنی نماز میں مڑ کر نہیں دیکھتے تھے۔ جب لوگوں نے بہت زیادہ تالیاں بجائیں تو ابوبکر نے مڑ کر دیکھا اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو دیکھا۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے انہیں اشارہ فرمایا کہ اپنی جگہ رہو۔ ابوبکر نے ہاتھ اٹھائے اور اللہ تعالیٰ کی حمد بیان کی اس پر جو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے انہیں حکم دیا تھا۔ پھر ابوبکر پیچھے ہٹے یہاں تک کہ صف میں آ گئے، اور نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم آگے بڑھے اور نماز پڑھائی۔ جب آپ فارغ ہوئے تو ارشاد فرمایا: 'اے ابوبکر! جب میں نے تمہیں حکم دیا تو تمہیں کیا چیز روکی کہ تم ٹھہرے نہیں؟' ابوبکر نے عرض کیا: ابوقحافہ کے بیٹے کی مجال نہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے آگے نماز پڑھائے۔ پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: 'مجھے کیا ہوا کہ میں نے تمہیں بہت زیادہ تالیاں بجاتے دیکھا؟ جسے نماز میں کوئی بات پیش آئے تو وہ سبحان اللہ کہے، کیونکہ جب وہ سبحان اللہ کہے گا تو اس کی طرف توجہ کی جائے گی۔ تالی بجانا تو عورتوں کے لیے ہے۔'
