Umm al-Mu'minin Hadrat Aishah (may Allah be well pleased with her) narrated: Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah ibn Utbah said: I entered upon Aishah and submitted: "Would you not narrate to me about the illness of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)?" She said: Indeed. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) became severely ill. He stated: "Have the people prayed?" I said: No, they are waiting for you, O Messenger of Allah. He stated: "Place water for me in the basin." She said: We did so, and he bathed. Then he went to rise but fainted. Then he regained consciousness and stated: "Have the people prayed?" I said: No, they are waiting for you, O Messenger of Allah. The people were gathered in the mosque waiting for the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) for the Isha prayer. She said: The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) sent word to Abu Bakr al-Siddiq to lead the people in prayer. The messenger came to him and said: The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) commands you to lead the people in prayer. Abu Bakr, who was a tender-hearted man, said: O Umar, lead the people in prayer. Umar said to him: You are more deserving of that. So Abu Bakr led them in prayer during those days. She said: Then the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) felt some relief and came out supported by two men for the Zuhr prayer while Abu Bakr was leading the people. When Abu Bakr saw him, he began to step back, but the Prophet gestured to him not to step back, and stated to the two men: "Seat me beside him." So they seated him beside Abu Bakr. Abu Bakr prayed standing, following the prayer of the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and the people followed the prayer of Abu Bakr, while the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was sitting. Ubaydullah said: I entered upon Abdullah ibn Abbas and submitted: "Shall I present to you what Aishah narrated to me about the illness of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)?" He said: Go ahead. So I presented her narration to him, and he did not deny anything of it.

اُمّ المؤمنین حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا سے روایت ہے: عبید اللہ بن عبد اللہ بن عتبہ نے کہا: میں حضرت عائشہ کے پاس حاضر ہوا اور عرض کیا: "کیا آپ مجھے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی بیماری کے بارے میں بتائیں گی؟" انہوں نے فرمایا: ہاں۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم بہت بیمار ہو گئے۔ آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: "کیا لوگوں نے نماز پڑھی؟" میں نے عرض کیا: نہیں، وہ آپ کا انتظار کر رہے ہیں یا رسول اللہ۔ آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: "میرے لیے طشت میں پانی رکھو۔" فرمایا: ہم نے ایسا کیا، آپ نے غسل فرمایا۔ پھر اٹھنے لگے تو بے ہوش ہو گئے۔ پھر ہوش آیا تو ارشاد فرمایا: "کیا لوگوں نے نماز پڑھی؟" میں نے عرض کیا: نہیں، وہ آپ کا انتظار کر رہے ہیں یا رسول اللہ۔ اور لوگ مسجد میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے نماز عشاء کے لیے منتظر تھے۔ فرمایا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے حضرت ابو بکر صدیق رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کو پیغام بھیجا کہ لوگوں کو نماز پڑھاؤ۔ قاصد آیا اور کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم آپ کو حکم دیتے ہیں کہ لوگوں کو نماز پڑھائیں۔ ابو بکر نے فرمایا، اور وہ نرم دل آدمی تھے: اے عمر! لوگوں کو نماز پڑھاؤ۔ عمر نے کہا: آپ اس کے زیادہ حقدار ہیں۔ تو ابو بکر نے ان دنوں لوگوں کو نماز پڑھائی۔ فرمایا: پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے اپنے آپ میں کچھ ہلکا پن محسوس کیا تو دو آدمیوں کے سہارے نماز ظہر کے لیے نکلے جبکہ ابو بکر لوگوں کو نماز پڑھا رہے تھے۔ جب ابو بکر نے آپ کو دیکھا تو پیچھے ہٹنے لگے، آپ نے اشارہ فرمایا کہ پیچھے نہ ہٹو اور دونوں آدمیوں سے فرمایا: "مجھے ان کے پہلو میں بٹھاؤ۔" تو انہوں نے آپ کو ابو بکر کے پہلو میں بٹھا دیا۔ ابو بکر کھڑے ہو کر نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی نماز کے مطابق نماز پڑھتے رہے اور لوگ ابو بکر کی نماز کے مطابق پڑھتے رہے جبکہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم بیٹھے ہوئے تھے۔ عبید اللہ نے کہا: میں عبد اللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما کے پاس حاضر ہوا اور عرض کیا: کیا میں آپ کو وہ بات پیش کروں جو حضرت عائشہ نے مجھے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی بیماری کے بارے میں بتائی؟ انہوں نے کہا: سناؤ۔ تو میں نے ان کے سامنے حدیث پیش کی اور انہوں نے اس میں سے کچھ بھی رد نہیں کیا۔
