أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْمَلِيحِ عَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ عَرَّسَ بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ فَافْتَرَشَ كُلُّ رَجُلٍ مِنَّا ذِرَاعَ رَاحِلَتِهِ قَالَ فَانْتَبَهْتُ فِي بَعْضِ اللَّيْلِ فَإِذَا نَاقَةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَيْسَ قُدَّامَهَا أَحَدٌ فَانْطَلَقْتُ أَطْلُبُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَإِذَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ قَيْسٍ قَائِمَانِ فَقُلْتُ أَيْنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ؟ فَقَالَا لَا نَدْرِي غَيْرَ أَنَّا سَمِعْنَا صَوْتًا بِأَعْلَى الْوَادِي فَإِذَا مِثْلُ هَدِيرِ الرَّحَى قَالَ فَلَبِثْنَا يَسِيرًا ثُمَّ أَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «إِنَّهُ أَتَانِي مِنْ رَبِّي آتٍ فَيُخَيِّرُنِي بِأَنْ يَدْخُلَ نِصْفُ أُمَّتِي الْجَنَّةَ وَبَيْنَ الشَّفَاعَةِ وَإِنِّي اخْتَرْتُ الشَّفَاعَةَ» فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَنْشُدُكَ بِاللَّهِ وَالصُّحْبَةِ لَمَا جَعَلْتَنَا مِنْ أَهْلِ شَفَاعَتِكَ؟ قَالَ «فَأَنْتُمْ مِنْ أَهْلِ شَفَاعَتِي» قَالَ فَلَمَّا رَكِبُوا قَالَ «فَإِنِّي أُشْهِدُ مَنْ حَضَرَ أَنَّ شَفَاعَتِي لِمَنْ مَاتَ لَا يُشْرِكُ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا مِنْ أُمَّتِي»
English Translation
Hadrat Awf ibn Malik (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated: The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) halted with us one night. Every man among us used the foreleg of his riding camel as a pillow. I awoke in the night to find the she-camel of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) with no one before her. I set out looking for the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and found Hadrat Mu'adh ibn Jabal and Hadrat Abdullah ibn Qays (may Allah be well pleased with them both) standing. I asked: "Where is the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)?" They said: "We do not know, but we heard a sound from the upper part of the valley like the rumbling of a millstone." We waited a short while, then the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) came to us and stated: "A messenger came to me from my Lord and gave me the choice between having half my Ummah enter Paradise and having intercession. I chose intercession." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, we beseech you by Allah and by our companionship to include us among the people of your intercession." He stated: "You are among the people of my intercession." When they mounted, he stated: "I call to witness all who are present that my intercession is for whoever dies from my Ummah without associating anything with Allah."
Urdu Translation
حضرت عوف بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ایک رات ہمارے ساتھ پڑاؤ ڈالا۔ ہم میں سے ہر شخص نے اپنی سواری کے بازو کو تکیہ بنایا۔ رات کو میں جاگا تو دیکھا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی اونٹنی کے آگے کوئی نہیں۔ میں آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو تلاش کرنے نکلا تو حضرت معاذ بن جبل اور حضرت عبداللہ بن قیس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما کھڑے ملے۔ میں نے پوچھا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کہاں ہیں؟ انہوں نے کہا: ہمیں نہیں معلوم، لیکن ہم نے وادی کے اوپری حصے سے چکی کی گھن گھناہٹ جیسی آواز سنی۔ تھوڑی دیر بعد رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ہمارے پاس تشریف لائے اور ارشاد فرمایا: «میرے رب کی طرف سے ایک آنے والا آیا اور مجھے اختیار دیا کہ میری نصف امت جنت میں داخل ہو یا شفاعت ملے۔ میں نے شفاعت کو چن لیا۔» لوگوں نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! ہم آپ کو اللہ اور صحبت کا واسطہ دیتے ہیں، ہمیں اپنی شفاعت والوں میں شامل فرما لیں۔ ارشاد فرمایا: «تم میری شفاعت والوں میں سے ہو۔» جب سوار ہوئے تو ارشاد فرمایا: «میں حاضرین کو گواہ بناتا ہوں کہ میری شفاعت میری امت میں سے ہر اس شخص کے لیے ہے جو اللہ کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک نہ ٹھہراتے ہوئے فوت ہو۔»
