Ahmad ibn Ali ibn al-Muthanna informed us, saying: Abu Khaythamah narrated to us, saying: Jarir narrated to us from Asim ibn Kulayyb from his father from Wa'il ibn Hujar, who said: 'I said: I will observe the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood and faced the qiblah and said: Allah is the Greatest. Then he raised his hands until they were level with his ears, then he placed his right hand on his left hand, wrist, and forearm. When he wanted to bow, he raised his hands likewise. When he bowed, he placed his hands on his knees. When he raised his head, he raised his hands likewise. When he prostrated, he placed his face between his palms. When he sat, he placed his left foot under him and placed his left hand on his left thigh, and made his right elbow rest on his right thigh, and clenched two of his fingers and made a circle, and raised his forefinger, and I saw him moving it, supplicating with it.'
