English Translation
Abu Humayd (may Allah be pleased with him) said - and he heard him among ten of the Prophet's companions, one of them being Abu Qatadah - he said: 'I know best among you the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).' They said, 'You were not the earliest of us in his companionship nor the most frequent in following him!' He said, 'Nevertheless.' They said, 'Then demonstrate.' He said: 'The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), when he stood for prayer, faced the Qiblah and raised his hands until they were level with his shoulders, then said: Allahu Akbar. When he bowed, he said the takbir and raised his hands when bowing, then straightened his back and did not lower his head nor raise it. Then he raised his head and said: Allah hears the one who praises Him, and raised his hands until they were level with his shoulders. Then he straightened, then prostrated and turned the tips of his feet toward the Qiblah. Then he raised his head and said: Allahu Akbar, bent his left foot and sat, straightening until every bone returned to its place. Then he said: Allahu Akbar. When he stood from the two rak'ahs, he said the takbir, then stood. When it was the rak'ah in which the prayer ends, he moved his left foot back and sat on his buttock leaning to one side, then gave the salutation.'
