أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ كُلَيْبٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي أَنَّ وَائِلَ بْنَ حُجْرٍ الْحَضْرَمِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ قُلْتُ لَأَنْظُرَنَّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَيْفَ يُصَلِّي فَنَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهِ حِينَ قَامَ «فَكَبَّرَ وَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى حَاذَتَا أُذُنَيْهِ ثُمَّ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى ظَهْرِ كَفِّهِ الْيُسْرَى وَالرُّسْغِ وَالسَّاعِدِ ثُمَّ لَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْكَعَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ مِثْلَهَا ثُمَّ رَكَعَ فَوَضَعَ يَدَيْهِ عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ مِثْلَهَا ثُمَّ سَجَدَ فَجَعَلَ كَفَّيْهِ بِحِذَاءِ أُذُنَيْهِ ثُمَّ جَلَسَ فَافْتَرَشَ فَخِذَهُ الْيُسْرَى وَجَعَلَ حَدَّ مِرْفَقِهِ الْأَيْمَنِ عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُمْنَى وَعَقَدَ ثِنْتَيْنِ مِنْ أَصَابِعِهِ وَحَلَّقَ حَلْقَةً ثُمَّ رَفَعَ إِصْبَعَهُ فَرَأَيْتُهُ يُحَرِّكُهَا يَدْعُو بِهَا» ثُمَّ جِئْتُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فِي زَمَانٍ فِيهِ بَرْدٌ فَرَأَيْتُ النَّاسَ عَلَيْهِمْ جُلُّ الثِّيَابِ تَتَحَرَّكُ أَيْدِيهِمْ تَحْتَ الثِّيَابِ
English Translation
Wa'il ibn Hujr al-Hadrami (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I said, 'I will observe how the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prays.' So I looked at him when he stood up. He said the takbir and raised his hands until they were level with his ears, then placed his right hand on the back of his left palm, wrist, and forearm. When he intended to bow, he raised his hands likewise, then bowed and placed his hands on his knees. Then he raised his head and raised his hands likewise. Then he prostrated and placed his palms level with his ears. Then he sat and spread his left thigh and placed the edge of his right elbow on his right thigh, closed two of his fingers and made a circle, then raised his finger and I saw him moving it, supplicating with it. Then I came after that at a time of cold, and I saw people wearing thick clothes, their hands moving under their clothes.
