أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ زَاذَانَ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي الصِّدِّيقِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ «كُنَّا نَحْزِرُ قِيَامَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ فَحَزَرْنَا قِيَامَهُ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ قَدْرَ ثَلَاثِينَ آيَةً وَحَزَرْنَا قِيَامَهُ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ عَلَى النِّصْفِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَحَزَرْنَا قِيَامَهُ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ مِنَ الْعَصْرِ عَلَى قَدْرِ الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ مِنَ الظُّهْرِ وَحَزَرْنَا قِيَامَهُ فِي الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ مِنَ الْعَصْرِ عَلَى النِّصْفِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ»
English Translation
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'We used to estimate the standing of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in Zuhr and Asr. We estimated his standing in the first two rak'ahs at approximately thirty verses, and we estimated his standing in the last two rak'ahs at half of that. We estimated his standing in the first two rak'ahs of Asr to be equivalent to the last two of Zuhr, and we estimated his standing in the last two of Asr at half of that.'
