Hadrat 'Imran ibn Husayn (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated: We were with the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) on a journey when the pace of his Companions varied. He raised his voice reciting these two verses: {O mankind, fear your Lord. Indeed, the earthquake of the Hour is a terrible thing} [al-Hajj: 1] until His saying {but the punishment of Allah is severe} [al-Hajj: 2]. When his Companions heard this, they spurred their mounts, knowing he was about to say something. He stated: "Do you know what Day that is?" They said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "That is the Day when Adam will be called and his Lord will call him and say: 'O Adam, send forth the contingent of the Fire.' From every thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine to the Fire, and one to Paradise." His Companions became despondent, not even showing a smile. When the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) saw their state, he stated: "Work and rejoice! By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, you are with two creations that were never with anything except that they outnumbered it: Gog and Magog, and those who perished from the children of Adam and the children of Iblis." The people were somewhat relieved. Then he stated: "Work and rejoice! By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, you are among people like a mark on the side of a camel, or like a brand on the foreleg of an animal." Sa'id ibn Abi 'Aruba also narrated it from Qatadah likewise.

حضرت عمران بن حصین رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے: ہم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ساتھ ایک سفر میں تھے اور صحابہ کی رفتار مختلف تھی۔ آپ نے ان دو آیتوں کو بلند آواز سے پڑھا: {اے لوگو! اپنے رب سے ڈرو، بے شک قیامت کا زلزلہ بہت بڑی چیز ہے} [الحج: 1] اللہ تعالیٰ کے فرمان {لیکن اللہ کا عذاب سخت ہے} [الحج: 2] تک۔ جب صحابہ نے یہ سنا تو اپنی سواریوں کو تیز کیا کیونکہ وہ جانتے تھے کہ آپ کوئی بات فرمانے والے ہیں۔ فرمایا: «کیا جانتے ہو وہ کون سا دن ہے؟» لوگوں نے کہا: اللہ اور اس کے رسول بہتر جانتے ہیں۔ فرمایا: «وہ دن جب آدم کو بلایا جائے گا اور اُن کا رب اُنہیں پکار کر فرمائے گا: اے آدم! جہنم کا حصہ بھیجو — ہر ہزار میں سے نو سو ننانوے جہنم میں اور ایک جنت میں۔» صحابہ مایوس ہو گئے یہاں تک کہ کسی نے مسکراہٹ بھی نہ دکھائی۔ جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے صحابہ کا یہ حال دیکھا تو ارشاد فرمایا: «عمل کرو اور خوش ہو جاؤ! اُس ذات کی قسم جس کے ہاتھ میں محمد کی جان ہے، تم دو مخلوقات کے ساتھ ہو جو کسی کے ساتھ نہ ہوئیں مگر اُسے بہت زیادہ کر دیں: یاجوج و ماجوج اور بنی آدم اور بنی ابلیس میں سے ہلاک ہونے والے۔» لوگوں کی کچھ پریشانی دور ہوئی۔ پھر فرمایا: «عمل کرو اور خوش ہو جاؤ! اُس ذات کی قسم جس کے ہاتھ میں محمد کی جان ہے، تم لوگوں میں ایسے ہو جیسے اونٹ کے پہلو پر ایک تل، یا جانور کے بازو پر ایک نشان۔» سعید بن ابی عروبہ نے بھی اسے قتادہ سے اسی طرح روایت کیا ہے۔
