حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُظَفَّرُ الْحَافِظُ ثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَفْصٍ الْوَصَّابِيُّ بِحِمْصَ ثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى صَاحِبُ التَّارِيخِ قَالَ وَمِمَّا انْتَهَى إِلَيْنَا مِنْ خَبَرِ حِمْصَ وَمَنْ نَزَلَهَا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَمِنْ مَوَالِي قُرَيْشٍ ثَوْبَانُ بْنُ بُجْدُدٍ يُكَنَّى أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَلْهَانِ أَصَابَهُ السَّبْيُ فَأَعْتَقَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَقَالَ لَهُ «يَا ثَوْبَانُ إِنْ شِئْتَ أَنْ تَلْحَقَ مَنْ أَنْتَ مِنْهُ فَأَنْتَ مِنْهُمْ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ أَنْ تَثْبُتَ وَأَنْتَ مِنَّا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ عَلَى وَلَاءِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ» قَالَ بَلْ أَثْبُتُ عَلَى وَلَاءِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَمَاتَ بِحِمْصَ فِي إِمَارَةِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ قُرْطٍ عَلَيْهَا سَنَةَ أَرْبَعٍ وَخَمْسِينَ ابو بكر احمد بن محمد بن عيسى صاحب التاريخ
English Translation
Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Isa, the author of the History, narrated: Among what has reached us about Hims and those Companions of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) who settled there, from the freed slaves of Quraysh: Hadrat Thawban ibn Bujdud (may Allah be well pleased with him), whose kunya was Abu Abdullah, a man from al-Alhan who was captured and freed by the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). He stated to him: 'O Thawban, if you wish, you may join your own people, for you are from them; and if you wish, you may remain and be from us, the People of the House, under the patronage of the Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'Rather, I shall remain under the patronage of the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).' He died in Hims during the governorship of Abdullah ibn Qurt in the year 54 AH.
Urdu Translation
احمد بن محمد بن عیسیٰ صاحبِ تاریخ نے بیان کیا: جو کچھ ہمیں حمص اور وہاں بسنے والے حضور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے صحابہ کرام کے بارے میں پہنچا ہے، ان میں قریش کے موالی میں سے: حضرت ثوبان بن بجدد رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ جن کی کنیت ابو عبد اللہ تھی، الاہان کے ایک شخص تھے جو قید ہوئے اور حضور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے انہیں آزاد فرمایا۔ آپ نے ان سے ارشاد فرمایا: 'اے ثوبان! اگر تم چاہو تو اپنی قوم سے جا ملو، تم ان میں سے ہو؛ اور اگر چاہو تو ٹھہرے رہو اور ہم اہلِ بیت میں سے ہو جاؤ، رسول اللہ کی ولاء پر۔' انہوں نے کہا: 'بلکہ میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی ولاء پر ہی رہوں گا۔' ان کی وفات حمص میں عبد اللہ بن قرط کی گورنری کے دوران سنہ 54 ہجری میں ہوئی۔
