Hadrat Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated regarding the verse: {Then one of the two women came to him walking with shyness} [al-Qasas: 25] — he said: 'She was coming while she was bashful, placing her hand over her face.' So Musa stood up with her and said to her: 'Walk behind me and describe the path for me, and I shall walk ahead of you — for we do not look at women's backs.' Then she said: {O my father, hire him. Indeed, the best one you can hire is the strong and trustworthy} [al-Qasas: 26] — because of the strength she saw in him and what he said to her. That increased his desire for him. So he said: {I wish to wed you one of these two daughters of mine on the condition that you serve me for eight years; but if you complete ten, it will be of your own accord. And I do not wish to put you in difficulty. You will find me, if Allah wills, among the righteous} [al-Qasas: 27] — meaning in good companionship and fulfillment of what I have said. Musa said: {That is [settled] between you and me. Whichever of the two terms I complete — there is no injustice to me} [al-Qasas: 28]. He said: Yes. He said: Allah is witness over what we say. So he married him, and Musa stayed with him, sufficing him and working for him tending his sheep and whatever he needed. He married him Saffurah — or her sister Sharqa' — and they were the two who had been driving [the sheep] away. Authentic upon the criteria of both [al-Bukhari and Muslim], but they did not record it.
Urdu Translation
حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے اس آیت کے بارے میں فرمایا: {پھر ان میں سے ایک شرم سے چلتی ہوئی آئی} [القصص: 25] — فرمایا: 'وہ حیا دار ہو کر آ رہی تھی، اپنا ہاتھ چہرے پر رکھے ہوئے۔' حضرت موسیٰ اس کے ساتھ اٹھے اور فرمایا: 'میرے پیچھے چلو اور مجھے راستے کی نشاندہی کرو اور میں تمہارے آگے چلتا ہوں — کیونکہ ہم عورتوں کی پشت نہیں دیکھتے۔' پھر اس نے کہا: {اے میرے ابا! اسے مزدور رکھ لیں۔ بے شک سب سے بہتر جسے آپ مزدور رکھیں وہ مضبوط اور امانت دار ہو} [القصص: 26] — ان کی قوت دیکھ کر اور ان کی بات سن کر۔ اس سے ان کی رغبت اور بڑھ گئی۔ فرمایا: {میں چاہتا ہوں کہ اپنی دو بیٹیوں میں سے ایک کا نکاح آپ سے کروں اس شرط پر کہ آپ آٹھ سال میری خدمت کریں؛ اگر دس پورے کریں تو آپ کی مرضی۔ میں آپ پر مشقت نہیں ڈالنا چاہتا۔ آپ مجھے ان شاء اللہ نیک لوگوں میں سے پائیں گے} [القصص: 27] — یعنی اچھی صحبت اور وعدے کی وفا میں۔ حضرت موسیٰ نے فرمایا: {یہ میرے اور آپ کے درمیان طے ہے۔ دونوں مدتوں میں سے جو بھی میں پوری کر دوں تو مجھ پر زیادتی نہیں} [القصص: 28]۔ فرمایا: ہاں۔ فرمایا: اللہ ہماری بات پر وکیل ہے۔ تو ان کا نکاح کر دیا اور حضرت موسیٰ ان کے ساتھ رہے، ان کا کام کافی کرتے اور ان کے لیے بکریاں چراتے اور جو ضرورت ہوتی۔ اور ان کا نکاح صفورہ سے کیا — یا ان کی بہن شرقاء سے — اور یہ وہ دونوں تھیں جو (بکریوں کو) ہانک رہی تھیں۔ بخاری و مسلم کی شرط پر صحیح ہے مگر انہوں نے اسے روایت نہیں کیا۔
